Signs And Symptoms Of Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is one of the leading cancers among men in the United States, affecting every 1 in 6 men, a staggering statistic. Cancer of the prostate comes from the small walnut shaped gland in a male prostate. This glad is what secretes, nourishes and transports semen from sperm. Prostate cancer is a difficult one to fight. If you are one of the lucky few who manage to beat it, there are a plethora of other medical issues that may accompany your remission after treatment. It is important to have regular prostate checks with your physician and to let them know of any prostate cancer symptoms you may be experiencing.

One of the positive things about prostate cancer is that most forms of the cancer are slow growing. Unlike other cancers like pancreatic cancer, the threat of spreading is minimal if caught early enough. There are several forms of pancreatic cancer that do tend to spread quicker, so early detection (while it is still contained in the prostate itself) is very important. If you have sudden urinary problems (especially if you have never had them in the past), that could be a cause for concern. The problems could be caused by a tumor on your prostate putting pressure on your bladder. You may find yourself having trouble stopping and starting your urine or that your urine is not coming out of your penis very forcefully. Be especially mindful if you notice blood in your urine or blood in your semen after intercourse or masturbation.

If you have not caught your cancer early, some of the signs that your cancer has possibly spread to your lymph nodes or other parts of your body is increased swelling in your legs (not caused by extra salt intake or exercising). You may also find that you have pain in your abdomen and pelvic area. This pain may be a dull, numbing discomfort, or extremely painful (especially if the cancer has spread rapidly). Your prostate cancer has most likely metastasized to other parts of your body (especially your bones) if you experience constant pain that will not go away no matter what you try. You may find that you have unexplained bone breaks and fractures caused by a fall or a bump that should not be drastic enough to cause an injury. There may also be pain and compression on your spine as the cancer begins to wrap around your bones and organs and attack the cells. If you are experiencing any of these prostate cancer symptoms, consult immediately with your physician.
